32 Percent of New Smartphone Owners Choose Android Phones

BlackBerry still has the largest share of users overall.

TechCrunch: A new Nielsen report says that between March and August of this year, Android was the most popular operating system for those who bought new smartphones. 32 percent of buyers picked Android, while 25 percent bought iPhones and 26 percent chose Blackberry handsets.

Overall, BlackBerry is still the most popular mobile operating system among all users, with a 31 percent market share. Apple's iPhone ranks second with 28 percent of users, and Android is third with 19 percent.
