The social networking site is back to normal after its second outage in two days.

PCMagazine: On Thursday, Facebook went down for 2.5 hours, the second time in two days that the social networking site experienced downtime. The problem stemmed from a change to the company's IT systems. "The key flaw that caused this outage to be so severe was an unfortunate handling of an error condition," explained Facebook's Robert Johnson. "This is the worst outage we've had in over four years, and we wanted to first of all apologize."

In order to fix the problem, "we had to stop all traffic to this database cluster, which meant turning off the site," Johnson said. The site is now functioning normally.
