Pew: 35 Percent of Adults Have Apps on Their Phones

24 percent of cell phone owners actually use the apps on their phone.

PC Magazine: A new Pew survey of 1,917 people reveals that 35 percent of American cell phone owners have apps on their phones--although some of those apps come pre-installed. About 24 percent of those surveyed said they actually use their phone apps, and 29 percent had downloaded an app.

App users tend to be young, male, and affluent. The most popular smartphone app is Facebook.
