By 2014, Gartner says Android and Symbian will account for 59.8 percent of the smartphone market.

The Inquirer: New research from Gartner predicts that by 2014, Android and Symbian will account for 59.8 percent of the market. While Symbian is the current global leader, the market research firm believes most of that lead will erode in the next four years, as Android comes on strong.

The report is bad news for Microsoft; Gartner predicts Windows Phone 7 will trail in 6th place.
