HP to Work With Hynix on New Computer Memory Chips

"Memristor" chips could become available in three years.

NY Times: HP has announced that it will work with South Korean chip maker Hynix to create "memristors." Until now, memristor technology has been considered experimental, but HP believes it could replace flash memory cards in PCs and cameras.

“Right now the memristor outperforms flash,” said HP Labs scientist Stan Williams, who pointed out that memristors are 100 times faster, use one tenth as much energy and last longer than flash.
