Intel to Buy Infineon Wireless Unit for $1.4 Billion

Less than two weeks after it announced the purchase of security vendor McAfee, Intel makes another big acquisition.

NY Times: Chip maker Intel has announced that it is buying the wireless division of German company Infineon for $1.4 billion. Infineon's wireless division makes chips for laptops, netbooks and smartphones, including the Apple iPhone.

The news comes less than two weeks after Intel's last big purchase--the security vendor McAfee.
