Google Testing Voice Calling in Gmail

The free e-mail service might become an online communication hub.

Cnet: Users have been able to make free VoIP calls via Google Voice for a while, but now Google is enabling some audio calls from the Gmail interface. The tool launches from the Google chat box on the lower left side of the screen. It's not clear if this new feature is the same as Google Voice or if it's a completely new service.

So far, Google has little to say on the subject, other than, "Google is always testing new features and products, but we have nothing specific to announce right now."
