Apple Patents a Desktop Touch-Screen Computer

The next iMac could seem a lot more like the iPad.

NY Times: A recently uncovered European patent shows how Apple could bring multi-touch screens like those on the iPad and iPhone to the desktop. Sensors could be added to an existing iMac to allow it to accept touch input and determine the angle of the screen. The touchscreen interface in the patent application looks a lot like iOS, suggesting that the Apple desktop operating system, OS X, could merge with its mobile operating system.

The patent application also shows a computer that could be used as either a laptop, with a standard keyboard and mouse, or as a tablet with a touch interface.
