A new Forrester report suggests interest in tablets goes well beyond the iPad.

NetworkWorld: A new report from market research firm Forrester says that 14 percent of US online customers plan to buy a tablet computer within the next 12 months. That compares to 13 per cent planning to buy a laptop, 11 percent planning to buy an eBook reader, 8 percent planning to buy a netbook and 8 percent planning to buy a desktop.

That interest could translate into 43 million sales, which Forrester says is "encouraging for Apple's would-be tablet competitors: There's interest in the category that goes beyond the iPad."
