CIOs Plan to Open Up IT Hiring in 2nd Half 2010

37 percent of decision makers at large organizations plan to add IT staff before the end of the year.

CIO Insight: A new survey from CDW IT Monitor shows that IT managers are feeling more optimistic and are thus more inclined to hire new staff. In fact, 37 percent of IT decision makers at large organizations plan to add IT workers before the end of the year. That's 11 percent more than during the same time period in 2009.

Other key survey findings include the following:

  • 29 percent of federal government IT decision makers plan to hire tech staff in the second-half of 2010.
  • 48 percent of IT decision makers at organizations of all sizes plan to increase their tech budgets in the next six months.
  • 67 percent of IT decision makers at large organizations plan to increase tech budgets in the next six months.
  • 74 percent of IT decision makers expect to replace or install software in the second half of 2010.
