Survey: 98 Percent of Enterprises Using Open Source

Nearly three-quarters of respondents say open source software is easier to deploy.

Cnet: In a new survey from software vendor Zenoss, 98 percent of enterprises surveyed said that they now use at least some open source code. Other notable findings include the following:

  • 71 percent of respondents said that open-source software was easier to deploy.
  • 76 percent of system administrators in large enterprises prefer to use open source when they can.
  • The top reasons why companies don't use open source are a lack of support and a lack of documentation.
