40 percent of InfoSecurity Europe conference attendees said they routinely violate their employers' security and privacy rules.

CIO Update: Security software vendor Ipswitch has just published a new report with the results of a survey conducted at the InfoSecurity Europe conference. Forty percent of attendees said they regularly violate company policy by sending confidential information via their personal e-mail accounts. Sixty nine percent said they send confidential data at least once a month, and 34 percent do so every day.

"Employees will almost always take the path of least resistance, even if that unintentionally means violating company policies and breaking security protocols," said Ipswitch vice president Frank Kenney. "Businesses need complete visibility into the files that are moving internally and externally company-wide, with a file transfer approach that makes it fast and easy for employees to securely exchange information with customers, partners and colleagues."
