Data Breaches Hit 113 Health Care Organizations, Report Says

Of 385 companies reporting data breaches so far this year, nearly a third are health care companies.

eWeek: A new report from the Identity Theft Resource Center suggests that the biggest target for identity thieves isn't financial data--it's health care data. Of the 385 organizations that have reported data breaches so far this year, nearly one third--113--were health care organizations. By contrast, only 39 banking and finance companies have been hit by breaches.

The report suggests that health care organizations are particularly vulnerable to insider threats.
