IBM Picks Up Data Compression Company Storwize

The acquisition gives Big Blue technology that allows customers to store five times as much data in the same amount of storage.

ZDNet: IBM has announced the purchase of data compression appliance vendor StorWize. StorWize technology allows customers to compress data in real-time so that it is still available to analytics applications, but can store five times as much data in the same amount of storage.

The companies did not disclose the purchase price, but the deal is expected to close during the third quarter.
