VMware Drops Prices by Half for Small Business Market

VSphere Essentials moves to a more pay-as-you-go pricing model.

ReadWriteWeb: Virtualization provider VMware has announced that it will cut prices on its entry-level small business product by half and move to a more pay-as-you-go pricing model. VSphere Essentials will now cost $495 for six CPUs, down from nearly $1000. Also, under the new pricing model, customers will only be charged for the virtual machines they actually use.

In separate news, VMware also announced that VMware vCenter Server can now manage up to 15,000 virtual machines.
