IBM Takes Blame For Massive Bank System Failure

Big Blue says an employee error caused an IT outage at one of Singapore's largest banks.

Computerworld: IBM has accepted responsibility for a July 5 IT outage at DBS, one of Singapore's largest banks. The company blamed the outage on employee error saying, "Unfortunately, a failure to apply the correct procedure inadvertently caused the service outage."

Although no data was lost, the bank's systems were down for seven hours.

IBM has a US$868 million outsourcing contract with DBS.
