Global Chip Sales Jumped 4.5% in May

May 2010 global chip sales were up 48 percent compared to the same month a year earlier.

Wall Street Journal: According to the Semiconductor Industry Association, global chip sales set a new record in May 2010. Monthly semiconductor sales hit $24.7 billion, a 4.5 percent increase from the previous record the month before. That number was a 48 percent increase from the year before, when the industry was hit hard by the recession.

According to the report, the Americas region saw the highest percentage gains.
