The tech giant now officially owns Palm--and its WebOS mobile operating system.

Bloomberg BusinessWeek: Yesterday, HP officially completed its purchase of Palm for $1.2 billion. The new Palm business unit will report to Todd Bradley, executive vice president of HP's Personal Systems Group.

The company hinted at its future plans for its new acquisition in a statement that read, "Palm will be responsible for WebOS software development and WebOS-based hardware products, from a robust smartphone roadmap to future slate PCs and netbooks."
