Experts Say IT Security Has a "People Problem"

A panel of security experts says that the top cybersecurity threat is users themselves.

eSecurity Planet: At a cybersecurity roundtable in New York City, experts agreed that users' risky behavior posed the greatest online threat. "Many PCs scan infrequently and many users have security software that's at least a week out of date if they have updated their subscription," explained McAfee's David Marcus.

Other experts noted that cloud computing and virtualization technology exacerbate threats in the enterprise. In addition, strategies for protecting yourself against cybersecurity threats don't have the same top of mind awareness as public health threats, for example.
