Google's Chrome Passes Safari in US Browser Share

Chrome is now number three in the U.S. browser market with an 8.97 percent share.

PCWorld: According to statistics released by Web analytics company StatCounter, Google's Chrome browser has more U.S. users than Apple's Safari for the first time ever. (Chrome had passed Safari among global users some time ago.) That puts Chrome in third place in the U.S. behind Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla's Firefox.

The current U.S. browser market breaks down as follows:

  1. Internet Explorer 52 percent
  2. Firefox 28.5 percent
  3. Chrome 8.97 percent
  4. Safari 8.88 percent
