Do Multitouch Devices Cause Physical Stress?

Researchers are spending $1.2 million to find out.

Computerworld: It wouldn't seem like the little finger flicks involved in using multitouch devices would cause undue harm to the human body, but researchers led by Kanav Kahol of Arizona State University aren't taking anything for granted. They're using a $1.2 million grant from the National Science Foundation to study the potential risks of the devices.

"Multitouch systems might be great for usability of a device, but we just don't know what it does to our musculoskeletal system," said Kahol.
