Forrester Research predicts that tablets will outsell netbooks by 2012.

Computerworld: A new report from Forrester Research predicts that tablets will outsell netbooks by 2012 and that tablets will account for 23 percent of all PC sales by 2015. For this year, the report forecasts sales of 3.5 million tablets--a number that may be low considering that consumers snatched up 2 million iPads in just two months.

Forrester analyst Sarah Rotman Epps writes, "Tablet growth will come at the expense of netbooks, which have a similar grab-and-go media consumption and Web browsing use case as tablets but don't synchronize data across services like the iPad does. Consumers didn't ask for tablets..., but Apple is successfully teaching consumers to want this new device."
