PCMagazine: Around 7 pm Tuesday night, several of Intuit's software-as-a-service offerings, including TurboTax Online, QuickBooks Online, Quicken and QuickBase, went offline. Service was restored at 10:45 Thursday morning, but not without great inconvenience to the company's more than 300,000 SMB customers.
A company spokesperson said that the company is "looking into restitution" for the affected businesses and that the outage resulted from an accident. "I just wanted to again share that we've been able to determine that the outage was accidental - it occurred during routine maintenance and affected both our primary and backup systems," she said. "That investigation will continue, so we can determine the right steps to ensure it doesn't happen again."
