New hires at Google have to use either Linux or OS X.

Financial Times: Following the well-publicized Chinese hacking incident at the company, Google began phasing out internal use of the Windows operating system. According to unnamed employees, “[Google is] not doing any more Windows. It is a security effort.”

Employees say new hires at the company have to choose either a Mac or a PC that runs on Linux. Although some Google employees do still run Windows, “Getting a new Windows machine now requires CIO approval,” said one staffer.

Sources also said that the company plans eventually to move to its own Chrome OS.
