Daily Tech: During a conference call discussing HP's quarterly earnings, CEO Mark Hurd explained that the company has big plans for webOS, the mobile operating system it acquired when it purchased Palm. "[The proposed deal] isn't precisely a smartphone play, as I've seen some people write. It is, for us, strategically broader. We expect to leverage WebOS into a variety of form factors, including slates and Web-connected printers."
Despite the very public switch from Microsoft's mobile operating system to webOS, Hurd insists that relations between Redmond and HP continue to be very good.
