Android Tops Apple OS for First Quarter

A new survey says that more consumers bought Android devices than iPhone devices during the first months of this year, contradicting other research.

PCMagazine: NPD Group has published a new report that makes some surprising claims about mobile operating system use. A survey of U.S. consumers found that consumers bought Blackberry equipped phones the most during the first quarter of 2010 (36 percent), followed by Android (28 percent), and iPhone (21 percent).

Other research firms have estimated Android's market position to be much lower--closer to 10 percent of the market.
