EMC Introduces New Storage Technology

New computers allow data centers up to 60 miles apart to transfer large quantities of information very quickly.

Reuters: EMC has announced the availability of a new line of specialized computers for fast data transfer. The new VPLEX products help companies transfer data between locations as much as 60 miles apart. Within two years, the company hopes to have improved the technology to the point where it works with data centers located around the globe.

The company plans to market the new products as a backup/recovery tool and as a means to balance workloads.
