Instead of making build-to-order PCs, Dell wants to compete with IBM and HP in the enterprise services space.

InformationWeek: Dell CEO Michael Dell says that the company is moving away from its position as a build-to-order PC maker to compete in the enterprise services space. "We are changing our business from being manufacturing-based to one that's focused on services and solutions," he says. "And no, we're not done."

The move puts Dell in step with trends at other large tech firms, but analysts wonder how successful the change will be.
