Symantec Pays $370 Million for Two Security Firms

The security giant snaps up PGP Corp and GuardianEdge.

Wall Street Journal: Security firm Symantec has gone on a buying spree. The company picked up two encryption vendors: PGP Corp. for approximately $300 million and GuardianEdge for approximately $70 million.

"Encryption is one of the most fertile subsets of the security-technology industry," noted analyst Daniel H. Ives. "And these acquisitions double Symantec's bet in the encryption market."
