Ballmer Previews Microsoft's Next Messenger

The new IM client features tabbed conversations, HD quality video chats, and many social networking features.

cnet: During a speech in Brazil, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer gave attendees a sneak peak at the next version of Windows Live Messenger. The new IM client features a host of new social networking features, plus new tabbed conversations and HD quality video chats.

"The new Messenger will provide a great way to have more meaningful conversations with the people you care about most while also bringing together your social networks and sharing updates, cutting through the clutter, and staying up to date with your favorite friends," says Microsoft.

According to Ballmer, by the end of the year 75 percent of PCs shipped will come with Windows Live.
