IDC reports that revenue in the PC processor market increased 40 percent compared to last year.

Computerworld: Market research firm IDC is reporting good news for the PC industry. Compared to the year before, processor shipments in the first quarter of this year increased 39 percent and revenues increased 40 percent. Although both of those numbers were lower than the figures from the fourth quarter of 2009 due to usual seasonal variation, the drop off was more moderate than usual.

Intel retains its position as market leader, with 81 percent of the market.

IDC expects 15.1 percent growth in shipments for the year.
