Microsoft Releases Windows Embedded 7

Several manufacturers, including HP, plan to install the new OS on both enterprise and consumer devices.

InformationWeek: Microsoft has released the latest version of its Windows 7 operating system. Windows Embedded 7 will be used in a number of devices, including thin clients, digital signage, industrial controls, and home media hubs.

"With the release of Windows Embedded Standard 7, Microsoft has furthered its commitment to the integration of Windows 7 technologies in the specialized consumer and enterprise device markets by providing OEMs with the latest innovative technologies to differentiate through rich, immersive user experiences and streamlined connectivity," said Microsoft's Kevin Dallas.

So far, manufacturers AOpen, C-nario, DT Research, Micro Industries, YCD Multimedia, Hewlett-Packard, Wyse Technology and Heber have committed to releasing products that use the new OS.
