Computerworld: Speaking at the Convergence conference in Atlanta, Microsoft's Stephen Elop said that cloud computing can help the company increase profits while it helps customers reduce costs. Saying that 90 percent of Redmond's engineers will soon work on the cloud in some way, he called cloud computing, "a remarkable transition in and around everything we do with technology."
He also added, "What we've done [in the past] is sell software. In the cloud world we're still selling that same software, but we're also participating in a bigger part of customers' IT budgets. We're going after more of the pot."
