USA Today: Thousands of enterprise computers will have to be manually repaired in a process that could take up to 30 minutes per PC after receiving a faulty update from security vendor McAfee. The company released an upgrade that mistakenly categorized the legitimate Windows file svchost.exe as malware. PCs that installed the update began to re-boot repeatedly.
"Less than one half of one percent of our enterprise accounts globally" were affected, said McAfee executive vice president Barry McPherson. "McAfee teams are working with the highest priority to support impacted customers."
