IBM Opens $30M Facility to Build New Power, Mainframe Systems

New plant features a number of environmentally friendly features.

eWeek: Yesterday, IBM opened a new 56,000-square-foot plant where it will manufacture high-end Power and System z mainframe systems. The Poughkeepsie, N.Y., facility, features a number of environmentally friendly features, including a closed-loop cooling system, Cool Blue Rear Door Heat eXchangers, a hot-aisle, cool-aisle system for its servers, energy-efficient fluorescent lights and occupancy sensors.

The facility will begin rolling out products before the end of the year.
