Google to Offer an Android-Based Tablet

After seeing the success of the iPad, Google, HP, Nokia and other companies are making plans to launch their own tablet computers by the end of the year.

NY Times: Citing sources who heard Google CEO Eric Schmidt talking to friends at a party, the New York Times reports that the company is experimenting in "stealth mode" with a new Android-based tablet computer. They describe the device as "an e-reader that would function like a computer."

After seeing the success of the iPad, several other companies are also kicking around the idea of offering a tablet, notably, HP, Nokia, and Microsoft.
