Federal officials say they are having a hard time finding enough IT security pros to fill their available positions.

eWeek: According to eWeek, "If you are in need of a job or looking to switch out of a dead end in technology, it may be time to buy an American flag lapel pin and get training, certification and real-world experience in Internet, networking and computer security." That's because a host of government agencies are looking to add IT security pros to their rosters, but are having a hard time finding enough qualified job candidates.

Researchers at Foote Partners say that "the only segment of IT that has actually gained value, since the recession started in 2007, is security.... Since 2007, when this recession started, overall the market value of security certs is up 3 percent." In fact, twelve of the top 24 certifications on Foote's list of hot certifications relate to security.

The Department of Homeland security plans to add 1,000 cyber-security professionals to its ranks in the next three years; they have made 200 job offers so far.
