Apple Sells 300,000 iPads in First Day

New tablet device sells faster than the original iPhone.

Macworld: According to Apple, consumers snatched up 300,000 new iPads by midnight April 3, the first day the tablets became available. By comparison, Apple sold about 270,000 of the original iPhones on the first day they were released, while later versions of the iPhone averaged about 333,000 in sales during their first weekends of availability.

In addition, iPad users downloaded more than one million apps and 250,000 e-books on Saturday.

CEO Steve Jobs said, “It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer.”
