Chrome, Windows 7 and Mac OS X Make Good Gains in March

Windows XP and Internet Explorer remain the most popular OS and browser respectively.

ZDNet: Net Applications has released its March numbers tracking OS and browser usage. In the browser wars, Chrome made the biggest gains--up almost a full percentage point to 6.13 percent market share. Firefox, Opera, and Safari also made small gains, while Internet Explorer dropped from 61.58 percent in February to 60.65 percent in March.

Among operating systems, Windows 7 increased its share the most, moving up from 8.92 percent in February to 10.23 percent in March. OS X also increased market share, though it still accounts for less than 3 percent of users. Windows XP fell more than 1 percent, but keeps its majority status with 64.46 percent of the market.
