Laptop Killer? The iPad is Pretty Close

Walter Mossberg serves up one of the first reviews of the iPad--he's been testing the device for about a week.

Wall Street Journal: Apple hasn't let very many people see the new iPad before its Saturday debut, but Walter Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal has been playing with one for about a week. While he takes the device to task for missing features like a physical keyboard, a Webcam, USB ports and multitasking, he was impressed with the tablet overall.

"After spending hours and hours with it, I believe this beautiful new touch-screen device from Apple has the potential to change portable computing profoundly, and to challenge the primacy of the laptop," he writes. "It could even help, eventually, to propel the finger-driven, multitouch user interface ahead of the mouse-driven interface that has prevailed for decades."
