Microsoft to Patch IE Zero-Day With Emergency Fix Tuesday

Microsoft will release the emergency patch before the next scheduled "Patch Tuesday."

NetworkWorld: For the second time this year, Microsoft will release an "out-of-band update" (a bug fix that comes before a scheduled "Patch Tuesday") for Internet Explorer. The patch, which will be released Tuesday, will correct a flaw that hackers have been exploiting in drive-by attacks for several weeks.

Although the vulnerability exists in only IE6 and IE7, the update will also plug other security holes in all versions of the browser. "The out-of-band security bulletin is a cumulative security update for Internet Explorer and will also contain fixes for privately reported vulnerabilities rated Critical on all versions of Internet Explorer that are not related to this attack," said Microsoft.
