Computer Hacking Ring Leader Sentenced To 20 Years

Albert Gonzalez, who led a ring of hackers which stole more than 40 million credit and debit card numbers from retailers, pleaded guilty to the charges.

ChannelWeb: After pleading guilty, Albert Gonzalez was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. The 28-year-old college dropout had led a ring of hackers that stole more than 40 million credit and debit card numbers from retailers, causing $200 million in damages.

Reports say that this is one of the longest sentences ever imposed for computer crimes.

Gonzalez still faces additional charges in a separate case.
