The company has moved up its previously announced launch date by about six months.

Wall Street Journal: Verizon Wireless has moved up its previous timetable by about six months and now plans to offer a 4G phone by the middle of 2011. The company plans to roll out its new Long Term Evolution technology in some markets by the end of the year and will introduce a handset that uses the technology three to six months later.

Analysts say that the move to 4G may come at a price for consumers who could be forced into tiered pricing plans based on bandwidth usage instead of today's "all you can eat" options.
