Google Opens Marketplace for Cloud Apps

New Google Apps Marketplace may allow the company to gain ground in the enterprise. In the newly unveiled Google Apps Marketplace, users can download apps that work with Google's cloud-based apps. The new app store currently contains 50 third-party tools that enhance Gmail, Google Calendar, and other popular Google applications.

Dan Olds, an analyst with The Gabriel Consulting Group, said this new move is a smart one. "This move not only raises the profile of Google apps for business and individual users alike, it also plays on the so-called app mania that has propelled platforms like the iPhone and other devices into prominence."
