Google Targets Microsoft With DocVerse Deal

Newly acquired technology will give Google users the ability to edit Office files online.

Wall Street Journal: In a deal worth $25 million, Google has purchased tech start-up DocVerse. The San Francisco-based company created technology that allowed people to edit Microsoft Word documents online. Google says that technology will soon be incorporated into Google Apps.

Comparing Google and Microsoft, DocVerse co-founder Shan Sinha commented that Google is "better positioned to reinvent Web-based business software" than Microsoft and executing "more effectively and quickly."
