Wall Street Journal: Apple has officially charged HTC, the maker of Google's Nexus One smartphone, of infringing on 20 patents related to the iPhone.
"We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We've decided to do something about it," said Apple's Steve Jobs. "We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours."
HTC and Google have not yet commented on the lawsuit, but patent attorney Mark Kesslen told the Wall Street Journal "HTC seems to be a getting a lot of play in this space." The lawsuit "is a way to slow it down."
