Antitrust Incoming? Google Hit by EU Complaint, FCC Filing

Competitors charge that the company highlights its own services in search results and buries their listings.

The Register: In separate incidents, German shopping site Ciao and French legal search service have filed complaints against Google in Europe, and shopping comparison site Foundem has filed complaints against Google with both the European Commission and the FCC. All three companies charge Google with uncompetitive practices, saying the company highlights its own services and buries their listings in supposedly neutral search results.

"They're turning an ostensibly neutral search engine into an incredibly powerful marketing channel for their own services," said Foundem co-founder Shivaun Raff.
