China Says Google Hacking Claims "Groundless"

China fires back in the war of words over who is responsible for cyberattacks at Google and other companies.

Reuters: China has responded to reports that two Chinese schools, a Chinese security consultant, and the Chinese government itself may have been involved in cyberattacks on Google and other U.S. companies. "Google's statement from January 12 is groundless, and we are firmly opposed to it," said Foreign Minister Qin Gang.

He added, "Reports that these attacks came from Chinese schools are totally groundless and the accusation of Chinese government involvement is also irresponsible and driven by ulterior motives."

Negotiations between Google and Beijing have resumed after a break for the Chinese New Year.
