Yahoo Says, Don't Count Us Out on Search

In a press conference, Yahoo announced its intentions to innovate and compete in search.

Wired: Despite a less than stellar recent history, Yahoo wants the world to know that it's not bowing out. At a press conference, Yahoo’s new vice president of search, Sashi Seth, announced, “Yahoo was in search, is in search and will be in search in the future. That is a stake we have put in the ground.”

For more than a year, Yahoo has been making quiet, incremental process in improving the way it classifies things. According to Wired, "New user interfaces — and knowledge classification — will be the future of search, and Yahoo has a deep team of talent working on the problem. And as number two, they have to innovate faster."
