IBM Calls Out Oracle's Ellison On Database Claims

IBM strikes back in the war of words with Oracle about database superiority.

Information Week: Last week, Oracle chief Larry Ellison said Oracle-Sun "blew the doors off" IBM's top database system. Now, IBM says that Oracle is just following in its footsteps.

"It looks to me like Oracle is just following IBM's lead—we've been tuning DB2 with our hardware and software for well over a decade," IBM's Bernie Spang told Information Week in a phone conversation. "It's not a new idea—we've been doing processor-tuned databases for multiple decades."
